The centre of excellence for restoration by optoelectronic techniques of Bucharest, Romania (CERTO) approached us looking for a solution that would offer very high quality 3D point capture at short (~ 1m) to medium (~20m) distance ranges. We needed to ensure that range noise was limited to 1mm or less, allowing capture of fine detail from small artefacts in the lab. and from the walls and celings of ancient buildings. A special combination of Surphaser 25HS range unit with harmonic drive rotation system was chosen for the exceptional specification it could offer, both for indoor and outdoor work. Trimble RealWorks Survey software complements the package with its powerfull tools for point cloud post-processing.
As specific work on the various projects is completed we shall add the notable success stories in this section. Below are images of the point cloud captured from an ancient tombstone, which is also pictured. The points themselves have been coloured by using the image matching tool of RealWorks Survey. |
