MD3D - 5 years of service and growth

We have now entered our 6th year of trading, and it feels like a good time to reflect on what has gone before. It is also time to make considerable changes to our web site! We shall be undertaking these updates over the next few months with a special aim to greatly improve the appliction examples and case studies. We remain committed to sourcing and supplying products which specifically suit the applications of our customers. Our offering includes laser scanners, structured light scanners, digital image correlation systems and imaging systems for capture of high-speed events.

The scope of scanner applications is vast, from digitising the tiniest dental brace bracket to the Acropolis of Athens. But the principal is always the same, apply the right system to achieve the highest quality data, whatever the scale. For very small objects our kolibri cabinet scanners create automatically consolidated data files with noise levels of just a few micrometers. Conversley the Surphaser units maintain sub-mm accuracy over many meters range and a 360 x 270 degree window. So typically we will spend a good deal of time understanding the full depth of our client applications before making recommendations. Our digitizer customers are widely spread; in our first few years of operation we have supported sales to Canada, Finland, Germany, Italy, Ireland and Romania - as well as to the U.K. of course.

We have experienced growing interest in our deformation measurement business, and are delighted to now be offering the Vic 2D and 3D products via Correlated Solutions / Limess. The range of scale varies from microscopic material property studies to flexing of wind turbine blades. Various options are available to enhance measurements and we provide specific advice in this regard. For example, customers dealing with dynamic events can choose between high-speed cameras or phase delay imaging (Strobe-CAM) approch. Other products include the RTSS real-time strain sensor, which allows for direct feedback control of testing machines.

MD3D will also undertake special service work, and this is aimed more specifically at smaller, difficult to measure items.
